Thermostatic Mixer Valves

What are Thermostatic Mixer Valves?

Thermostatic Mixer Vales, or TMVs, offer scald protection by allowing hot and cold water to be blended rather than running the hot water system at a reduced temperature.

TMVs and Legionella

Although the valves provide water at a safer temperature, they increase the risk of Legionella. The mixed water downstream of a TMV creates an environment in which the Legionella bacteria can potentially thrive and this needs to be managed.

Who needs to use TMVs?

TMVs are very important for scald protection for anyone but are particularly important for the very young, such as in schools and childcare facilities, and for the elderly and infirm, such as in hospitals and care homes.

Legionella monitoring and TMVs

Any premises that use TMVs must ensure that they are installed correctly and that they manage the on-going risk of Legionella. Without effective water hygiene measures and monitoring, your organisation and its people could be at risk from Legionnaires’ diseases.

Maintaining your thermostatic mixer valves

TMVs need regular servicing and testing to ensure they are working correctly and to detect harmful levels of Legionella bacteria in the water supply

How we can help:

We install and help manage the on-going risk of TMVs. We offer type 2 (can be overridden by the user) and type 3 TMVs (cannot be overridden by the user, suitable for healthcare premises and schools) and can advise on the appropriate type for your organisation.

Peace of mind for your business

A thermostatic mixing tap prevents scalding and ensures everyone can safely access water at the right temperature.  Thermostatic mixing valve servicing allows you to rest in knowledge you have mitigated the risk of Legionella. Our advice helps you protect your organisation and your people from hard caused by the water supply.
