How Aquatrust is moving compliance forward
It’s been a busy year at Aquatrust so far. We’ve been working hard on some pretty big changes – new technology, new people, even a fresh look – while keeping our focus on what matters most: looking after our customers and our team.
We spoke to Paul Kenny, our Managing Director, to get his thoughts on what we’ve been up to and where we’re heading.
Investing in technology
Our biggest project has been moving everything over to Microsoft Dynamics. It’s one of those behind-the-scenes changes that might not sound exciting, but it’s setting us up for much better data handling and integration with new technology. The project should be wrapped up by the end of September, and so far it’s progressing really well.
“2025 has been a pivotal year for Aquatrust,” Paul explains. “We kicked off with a clear strategy shaped during our December 2024 planning session. Technology is key. If we don’t move with the times, we’ll be left behind.” It’s not just about keeping up though. The aim is always to make life easier for customers, whether that’s simple reporting, clearer records or just quicker answers when they need them.
We’ve also welcomed some new faces to the Aquatrust team – we’re now a team of 42, with our move into North Yorkshire driving a lot of that growth.
New partnerships and monitoring
Over the past year, we’ve secured contracts with North Yorkshire Council, InCommunities, Together Housing and Bradford Council. It’s a great sign of the trust we’ve built in the public sector, where organisations need a partner they can rely on to keep standards high.
Our remote monitoring service has been expanding as well – we’re now supporting more than 70 buildings. Paul mentioned a recent implementation with a healthcare client where the system’s already proving its worth. “This technology will be especially valuable for housing associations and councils, enabling early issue detection and improved risk management.”
We’ve also started our second Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Leeds Beckett University, this time looking at how AI might help us give customers real-time insights into their water systems. It’s still early days, but it’s the kind of exciting project that gets everyone thinking about what’s possible.
Sustainability that means something
We keep our approach to sustainability simple: it should make a real difference. There’s always more to do, but we focus on actions that have genuine impact. This year, we added electric vehicles to our fleet for the first time, and now 26% of our fleet is electric. We’ve also been using remote sensors to cut down on unnecessary site visits and the results are promising.
“Sustainability is a core focus for us. We’ve committed to running a quarterly initiative, starting with our recent Make it Wild day, and we’ve got another planned for October,” Paul says. Our Carbon Reduction Plan sets out the bigger picture – Net Zero by 2040, with emissions down to around 68 tonnes by 2030. That’s a 46% reduction from where we started.

By working with and embracing new technology, we can help our clients stay compliant while also reducing environmental impact. “It means our customers can be confident that Aquatrust is a trusted partner for the future,” says Paul.
The team and our brand refresh
We’ve always been proud of our team culture. This year we updated our values to highlight Teamwork, Continuous Improvement and Achievement. Simple principles, but they capture how we actually work together.
“Team culture has been a top priority in 2025,” Paul says. “We’ve invested in team experiences – BBQs, five-a-side tournaments, sustainability days and a fun-packed AGM with games. Morale is high, and retention is strong. It’s a culture built on shared purpose and mutual respect.”
This year also marks the launch of our refreshed brand. We wanted the rebrand to feel recognisably Aquatrust, so the distinctive wave through the “A” is still there as a nod to the logo that’s served us well for so many years. Around it, everything has been given a cleaner, more modern feel that much better reflects our focus on sustainability and technology.
“The rebrand brings us into the modern era without changing how we work,” Paul explains. “The team has really embraced it – it’s like going shopping for new clothes! It connects them with our vision and values, and the new workwear has already become a symbol of pride and progress.”
20 years of experience, focused on the future
Paul says, “Our ability to adapt has kept Aquatrust alive. We’re always thinking about how we can do things better and reviewing our plans to stay ahead of industry changes.”
It’s that mindset that’s driven everything we’ve done this year – from the tech upgrades and new brand look to the team growth and sustainability steps. The fundamentals haven’t changed, but we’re always looking at how we can do them better.
Paul sums it up best: “Continuous improvement is part of our DNA, and it’s helped us thrive for nearly three decades.” It’s a mindset that will keep guiding us for many years to come.
